For some reason, perhaps the frequency of failure, there has grown a strong opposition towards resolutions. It’s quite stark and people are instead forming non-resolutions, saying that creating resolutions is silly and almost pointless because you never follow them anyway. To a certain degree, I agree but I also find value in the act of acknowledging qualities or goals you would like to attain and attempting to make them a part of you. Why is that so wrong? So for me, for fear of sounding to cliché, will post some “goals” that I wish to achieve. Let’s be real, I don’t think there is one person who hasn’t secretly made a resolution in their head.

1. Read more. I have books from last christmas that I still haven’t finished..or started. Reading material for school fills my life and I can’t wait to graduate in May and be able to read whatever I want whenever I want!

2. Pick my battles. Not doing so is one of my worst qualities. I need to know when to let go certain things and also learn not to take things so personally.

3. Highlight the good, not the bad. In any situation or relationship, if it means something to you and you plan to be part of it, highlight the good and it will strengthen it. If you focus on negatives it will only destruct in a matter of time.

Do you set resolutions? What is your sentiment towards them?
